Lam Chun Chung

Grandmaster Lam Chun Chung was born in October 1948 in Hong Kong, into a family of kung fu masters. He is the third son and sixth child of the Hung Kuen legend, Grandmaster Lam Cho. Like all his siblings, Grandmaster Lam Chun Chung began his training at the early age of 7 under the strict and watchful guidance of his renowned father.

He shared a close bond with his father and, as a young boy, often accompanied him on trips around Hong Kong to observe his teachings in kung fu and witness his work treating patients.

Growing up closely observing his father’s teachings, GM Lam developed a deep understanding of Hung Kuen from an early age. He trained diligently alongside his siblings under his father guidance. Training was demanding and disciplined to say the least. As caring as Grand master Lam Cho was, he was also very diciplined in his teachings and a perfectionist. Lam Chun Chun like his siblings began assisting in teaching at his father’s school at the age of 16. GM Lam also frequently performed on stage with his brothers, and their performances, including the double dagger versus spear form with his brother Lam Chun Hin and his Wu Dip Seung Do, were popular with the audiences.

After completing his education at St. Joseph’s School in Kowloon, GM Lam moved to Macau for work. During his time away from Hong Kong, he did not teach any students. Not necessarily in the spotlight, he was, however very much involved in his family style of kung fu.

In 2002, Grand master Lam won first place at the World Kung Fu Championships in Chongzhou, China, for his performance of Fu Hok Seung Ying Kuen.

In 2004, grandmaster Lam Chun Chung returned to Hong Kong from Macau to assist his father in teaching Hung Kuen at his legendary studio in Mong Kok. After his fathers passing, he took charge of hsi fathers famous school in Mong Kok.

Today, Grandmaster Lam continues his father’s legacy, teaching both his father’s students and new ones at the Mong Kok studio. He is currently in charge of the studio, where he has taken his father’s place in passing down the family’s art to all those eager to learn. GM Lam also provides Dit Da massage to treat patients at the studio.

As an exceptional master of Kung Fu and a first-class teacher, Lam Chun Chung is known for his patience, precision, and attention to detail. He is thorough and thoughtful in his teaching, always ensuring his students understand the finner points of style and  takes great care in ensuring his students understand the importance of proper training and dedication. He encourages his students to commit themselves fully to the art, offering clear explanations and guidance as they progress in their Hung Kuen journey.

GM Lam’s ongoing efforts to teach, preserve, and promote the Hung Kuen tradition reflect his dedication to his family’s legacy and his commitment to ensuring that the art continues to thrive for future generations.
